Lyantonde School of Nursing & Midwifery is a private School of Nursing and Midwifery that is aimed at creating extra-ordinary competent Nurses and Midwives with ability to facilitate increasing access to basic health care services to the rural Ugandan population through the delivery of the National Minimum Health Care package. The School builds grass root local capacities by training Nurses& Midwives in a two and a half years Certificate in Enrolled Nursing and Midwifery with a plan to enroll diploma courses (Registered nurses and midwives) and other certificates thereafter.
The school has registered her community health unit (Youth Action for Health) an arm that is an entry point of the school to communities basically to prepare trainees for Preventive Community & Personal Health Education. This operates with in the school as a Community Based Organization registered by Lyantonde District Social Services and is processing registration with Non-governmental organization board.
A center of excellence for providing knowledge, practical skills and high level of competence where both local and international Nurses & Midwives share the best practices to participate fully in improving peoples’ lives for sustainable livelihoods
Applying competence based curriculum to Nursing and Midwifery trainees with intent to create committed, creative practitioners of high moral and professional standards for effective demand-driven quality health care and prevention services with ability to transform and make evident impact on the lives of the people and the health sector for holistic development to make poverty and vulnerability history.
